Physical Check For GRP Tanks & Vessels

Description of Test

Passing Requirement

rWater-load Test

grp_qs_10

Method:

1.Tank is placed on saddles at distan
-ce between support shall not be less
than one(1.0) meter.
2.A marker is located at mid-length of
tank. The initial value is marked as Zero (0).
3.Tank is then filled with water to full
capacity. As the water on the tank ri
-ses, the marker moves. record the -
maximum movement as deflection in -
millimeters (mm)

Tank shall not break or presence of crack on any location of the walls or caps is a sign of failure.

Deflection shall not be more than:
30 mm for diameter less or equal to 1.6m; 75 mm for diameter greater to 1.6 and diameter less or equal to 3.4m

Dimensional Check

Leak Test

grp_qs_11

Method:After the 24-hour test above pressurize the tank to the,

following:
(a) for tank diameter<=2.4m use test pressure=5.0 psig (b)for tank Diamete r>2.4 and  tank diameter<=3.4m

use

  Tank shall not leak.

Beam-strength test

Long-Term  Type Test – at least 10,000 hours
This is a qualification test for the type of materials used and method of production. Unless this test confirms the performance of the specimen-pipe, pipe should not be used for sewer application.

grp_qs_9

Strain-corrosion test

This is another qualification test for pipes used in pressure lines. This is called HDB test per ASTM D 2992, Procedure B. Like in strain-corrosion test, it qualifies the method of production, and  raw materials. The resulting data can be used to predict the service life of the pipe.
